As a Bath-based photographer who’s been capturing weddings and other events since 2014, I feel incredibly lucky to live just ten minutes from one of the most iconic and atmospheric venues in the UK, The Roman Baths.

When this wonderful couple asked me to photograph their sunset wedding, I was absolutely delighted. It’s always a joy to work at such a breathtaking location right in the heart of the city I call home.

The Roman Baths are truly magical in the evening. As the sun begins to set, the ancient stones take on a warm glow, and the reflections in the water create a peaceful, timeless atmosphere. It’s a stunning backdrop for any celebration.

On this particular evening, the setting was serene, pigeons played around the courtyard as the final touches were put in place. Everything was ready. The bride made a beautiful, thoughtful entrance, taking a long walk around the Baths before the ceremony. It gave everyone a moment to pause and take in the setting, and it was a lovely way to begin the evening.

The ceremony itself was filled with happy moments, laughter, and heartfelt connection. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple exchanged vows under the golden light of the evening. After the ceremony, we made full use of the surroundings, capturing portraits among the historic pillars and flickering torchlight.

One of my favourite personal touches from the day was when the couple brought along a rugby ball—a nod to their love for the game and their shared passion for Bath Rugby. It was a playful and unique detail that added a fun twist to their photos and reflected something truly meaningful to them.

The whole evening had a wonderfully relaxed feel. I focused on documentary-style photography, capturing real, unscripted moments of joy, emotion, and connection between the couple and their guests.
