One of the most heartwarming moments I’ve had the pleasure to capture recently was a beautiful surprise proposal at the Botanical Gardens & Temple of Minerva in Bath. Somerset
The couple had travelled all the way from Peru to experience the charm and romance of this historic city — and what better place to get engaged than in one of Bath’s most picturesque green spaces?
Despite a little rain on the day, the love and excitement between them shone through. The weather didn’t dampen their spirits in the slightest — in fact, the soft light and gentle drizzle added a uniquely romantic atmosphere to the moment.
As a local photographer based in Bath, just a short walk from the Botanical Gardens and Temple of Minerva, I feel incredibly lucky to work in such a beautiful part of the world.

Some of the most memorable sessions I’ve done have started with a surprise proposal. Whether it’s carefully planned or slightly spontaneous, I help make sure everything flows naturally—often hiding nearby (yes, sometimes behind a tree!) to stay invisible until the big moment. With local knowledge of the city and experience photographing many couples, I can guide you to the right locations at the right time of day—where the light is soft, the setting is quiet, and the moment is just yours.
Favourite spots? There are so many. The view from Alexandra Park as the sun dips below the hills, the romantic stillness along the Kennet and Avon Canal, the warm stone.
Many couples tell me they were nervous at first, but within minutes it felt like we were just taking a walk together—chatting, laughing, enjoying the scenery, and letting the photos happen naturally.

Welcome to my wedding photography blog!
According to the vet charity PDSA, 27% of adults in the UK own a dog. So by my reckoning, that means that roughly one in ten weddings in the UK involve one dog owner marrying another dog owner. This raises the question of what marrying couples actually do with their pets during the wedding day itself. While many doubtless call in their local dog-sitter, one couple whose wedding I photographed recently had a rather different idea. When K and J got married at MacDonald Bath Spa Hotel last year, they decided not just to bring their dogs, but to invite their guests to do so too!
The idea worked brilliantly, as all the dogs were extremely well-behaved, and were happy to pose for pictures with their humans....
I particularly loved the rather fetching apparel the dogs were sporting!
Squatting down enabled me to get a dog's eye view of the wedding in progress and I loved it :-)
All in all, the wedding was an absolutely wonderful celebration of the couple's love for each other - and their four-legged friends.
